Tumblr bans blogs promoting self-harm

The popular social blogging platform Tumblr has announced a ban on blogs that “actively promote self-harm,” according to Time magazine.
The ban, which will take effect this week, is a reaction to the growing community of eating-disorder blogs that have found a home among the easy photo-based Tumblr platform.
Tumblr, which receives more than 15 million daily page views, said the ban included “blogs that glorify or promote anorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorders; self-mutilation; or suicide.”
A grace period for such blogs will be given for users to edit their content, while warnings will be issued when certain keywords related to self-harm are tagged.
