Fenerbahçe drew against Trabzonspor 0-0 in the Turkish Spor Toto Super League at Fenerbahçe’s Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium in Istanbul on Feb. 7 in a game that was marked by provocative remarks by both sides.

Fenerbahce generally dictated the tempo of the game while visitors Trabzonspor opted for a defensive mentality. The hosts struggled to find break down the Black Sea side, ultimately forcing them to settle for the scoreless draw.

Fenerbahce left-back Caner Erkin received a red card after the match for arguing with the referee.
The match was the first in which Fenerbahçe failed to score at home, while the fixture also brought to an end a seven-game winning streak in the league.

Trabzonspor Chairman İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, who had said Feb. 5 that his side would abandon the game in the event of any “deliberate mistake” by the referee, receiving a harsh response from the home side, congratulated referee Bülent Yıldırım after the game for conducting a fair game. Hacıosmanoğlu’s remarks drew a harsh response from Fenerbahçe, which accused him of “manipulation.”
