Central mosques in every city and district in Turkey are going to be refashioned in accordance with the needs of disabled citizens, according to a press release issued by the Directorate of Religious Affairs.“From now on, we are going to reorder our mosques located in the busiest places in every city and district in Turkey in accordance with [the needs of] our handicapped citizens, so as to allow them to join the mosques as well,” said Prof. Mehmet Görmez, the head of the Religious Affairs Directorate.
Officials made the decision after receiving requests filed by handicapped citizens who encounter difficulties in entering and exiting the mosques, Görmez said.
