A fire that broke out at a brewery in Istanbul’s Bahçelievler district has been brought under control after a one-and-half-hour extinguishing work.

The fire which erupted at around 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 28 was extinguished by 23 vehicles sent by nearby municipalities and 68 firefighters. No one was killed or injured during the fire.

“A fire broke out in our Merter [district] factory, where no production had been undertaken since May 2017, due to a technical malfunction that happened during the disassembly of the production equipment. With the fire brigades’ intervention, it has, to a large extent, been brought under control,” Turkish brewer Anadolu Efes said in a statement.

“The evacuation of the assigned personnel was carried out rapidly, causing no deaths or injuries,” the statement added.

Anadolu Efes continues its operations with 21 beer factories, five malt factories, and one hop processing plant in six countries, Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine, in the alcoholic beverages market, the brewer says on its website.
