Concerts, festivals canceled in Istanbul over Gezi Park protests

British band Blur was set to perform at the Efes Pilsen One Love Festival.

A slew of concerts scheduled to take place in June in Istanbul have been canceled due to the ongoing Gezi Park protests that have gripped all of Turkey.

Zaz, The National, Bloc Party, The Prodigy, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Sigur Ros and Snoop Dogg were among the artists to take the stage as part of the Vodafone Istanbul Calling Event. Meanwhile, Efes Pilsen One Love Festival has been canceled because of a new alcohol bill that bans alcohol advertising. The highlight of the concert was British alternative rock band Blur. The Avea Escape Music Festival has also been postponed to another date that will be announced soon; the New York Dolls, the Citizens and the Wanton Bishops are some of the bands set to take the stage for the festival.
