British tourist found dead in Turkey’s Fethiye after attacking girlfriend A British tourist, who allegedly beat his girlfriend in Turkey’s resort town of Fethiye in the Aegean province of Muğla before fleeing their hotel, was found dead on May 10 inside a well in a forested area near the hotel.

Troy Geoffrey Watson, 28, allegedly hit his girlfriend Deanna Willumsen in the face, breaking her nose and damaging their hotel room while drunk over one week ago.

He later fled the hotel, taking his girlfriend’s luggage and money, but he dropped the luggage upon a call from security personnel.

Willumsen reportedly did not file a complaint against Watson, but police launched a search to find him.

Willumsen returned to Britain on May 3.

Watson’s body was found early on May 10 along with 400 Turkish Liras and 30 euros in cash and personal belongings, in a nine-meter-deep pit.
