Academic released in KCK case

Sixteen suspects, including Professor Buşra Ersanlı, were released today in the ongoing Kurdistan Communities Union (
KCK) case.
Ersanlı is an
academic and an administrator in the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP). Ersanlı had been under arrest for over eight months.
The case was filed against 193 defendants; authorities had been trying 132 of them under arrest.
The KCK is the alleged urban wing of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which is recognized as a terrorist group by the United States, the European Union and Turkey.
