3 sidelined in procurement investigation

ANKARA- Anatolia News Agency
Three public servants including a board member, who were arrested as part of a probe regarding schemes to rig bids on state tenders, have been suspended from their duties, the Public Procurement Authority (KİK) said in a written statement issued yesterday.

An administrative investigation had been launched about the suspects, Ankara-based KİK said.

The legal process regarding the member of the board was closely being followed up by KİK as detention was lifted for him due to his sickness, the statement said. KİK requested that no unfair comments and allegations should be made regarding the authority, which conducts a sensitive duty.

Meanwhile, a top oppositional deputy suggested an anti-corruption authority should be established. Establishing an authority to fight corruption would bring corruptions to an end, said Reşat Doğru, vice president of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).

Noting that the scale of fraud at KİK case was claimed to be at 1 billion Turkish Liras, he said, “AKP has become unsuccessful in combating corruption.”
