Vehicle transporting prisoners crashes, 28 wounded

An accident involving a vehicle transferring prisoners has wounded 28 people, including 12 prisoners, on the highway between Sivas and Ankara, Anatolia news agency has reported. The driver lost control of the vehicle due to black ice on the road, causing the vehicle to topple.

Two staff sergeants, one sergeant, 11 privates, 12 prisoners and two drivers were wounded. A majority of the wounded were discharged after being hospitalized, but the driver, Yunus Emre Selvi, is in life-threatening condition, according to Doğan news agency.

An investigation has been opened on the accident.
