European champion Paralympic swimmer Sümeyye Boyacı has won a gold medal in the Para Swimming World Series in the U.S.

Boyacı won the gold in the 50-meter backstroke with a 45.28 seconds finish on April 8, said a statement by the Turkish Sports Federation for the Physically Disabled.

Some 160 athletes from 19 countries took part in the competition, which took place in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Meanwhile, Turkey’s Daniyar Ismayilov won a gold medal on April 7 at the European Weightlifting Championships in Batumi, Georgia.

On the third day of the championships, Ismayilov, competing in the men’s 67 kilogram event, won gold in the barbell snatch by lifting 147 kg.

However, he failed three times in the clean and jerk.

The championships, at which Turkey is being represented by 20 athletes, will end on April 13.
