Turkey registers nearly 64,000 new vehicles in August

The number of vehicles registered in Turkey fell some 41 percent year-on-year in August to reach 63,752, the country's statistics authority said on Oct. 2.
The total number of road motor vehicles registered was nearly 22.7 million by the end of August, the Turkish Statistical Institute announced.
In August, automobiles accounted for most new registrations - 57.8 percent (36,817), a drop in numbers of 41.8 percent from the same month last year.
Breaking down the newly registered cars by brand:
16.2 percent were Renault, 8.9 percent Volkswagen, 7.1 percent Peugeot, 6.6 percent Hyundai, 6.2 percent Fiat, 6.1 percent Toyota, 5.8 percent Ford, 5.4 percent Honda, 5.2 percent Opel, 4.8 percent Dacia, and 27.7 percent miscellaneous other brands.
In the first eight months of the year the number of registered motor vehicles dropped 16.8 percent compared to the same period last year, to 697,230.
The country's statistical authority will release the next data on road motor vehicles on Nov. 2.
