Turkey trains over 5,600 policemen for Syria’s north
ANKARA
The Police Academy has trained 5,631 volunteers at five different schools in Turkey to work as police officers in Syria’s northern regions, a police source told state-run Anadolu Agency on Oct. 25.
The Syrians have been trained with the aim of providing safety and security in the northern Syrian region where Turkey’s Euphrates Shield Operation was conducted in northern Syria as well as the Azaz district, said the source, speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.
The participants were selected for the training on a voluntary basis, the source added.
Twenty percent of all participants took part in training for Special Forces units. Graduates from the training regime, which began last year, have already started their duties in al-Bab, Azaz, Jarablus and Çobanbey, according to the source.
