TPAO to drill alone in Mersin

There were no offers made from foreign companies for the exploration of oil and natural gas in Turkish territorial waters of the Iskenderun-Mersin Gulf in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) held talks this year with 13 foreign companies to explore oil and natural gas at the Iskenderun-Mersin Gulf.

The foreign companies made no offers after studying two and three dimensional the seismic data. Accordingly, the TPAO will explore oil and natural gas at the Iskenderun-Mersin Gulf alone in 2013.

TPAO had signed an agreement last year with Royal Dutch Shell to drill for oil off the waters of the Southern Mediterranean port city of Antalya.
