Soldier killed in blast in southeastern Turkey

A specialist sergeant
was killed today when a landmine, planted on a road in the southeastern
province of Şırnak, detonated while a military vehicle passed by, Doğan news
agency reported.
The blast erupted in the
province's Beytüşşebap district while military forces were conducting a search
operation in the region.
One soldier was killed
in the blast, according to initial reports.
An investigation has
been launched into the incident.
