Serpil Timuray to join Vodacom Group board

Vodafone Turkey Executive Board Director Serpil Timuray has been appointed to the board of South Africa-based Vodacom Group, which is 65 percent owned by Vodafone. In addition to taking up this new assignment, she will continue her duties at Vodafone Turkey.

Vodacom Group has approximately 50 million subscribers and employs 7,300 people. The company covers the region including South Africa, Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Its 2011-2012 financial turnover was 58.2 billion South African Rand.

Timuray was awarded the title “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum in 2009 and was chosen as the “Professional of the Year” by local Ekonomist magazine in both 2010 and 2011.
