PKK claims deadly attack in eastern Turkey The outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on Aug. 19 caimed a car bomb attack targeting police in eastern Turkey that killed five people and injured over 200.

The bombing in Elazığ was one of three in less than 24 hours in eastern Turkey. 

Turkish officials said at least 14 people were killed and about 300 wounded in the attacks, which also hit Van in the far east near the Iranian border on Aug. 17 and the southeastern town of Bitlis on Aug. 18.
