Istanbul's first Bengal tigers see light of day
Istanbul’s first ever Bengal tigers were born on May 12 at Lion Park in the Tuzla district.
Lion Park’s veterinarian Gökçe Merve Yayla said zoo officials did not intervene in the birth not to negatively affect the process. No one at the zoo has so far touched the cubs but they appear to be happy and healthy, said Yayla.
The cubs weigh less than 300-400 grams but will grow to 30 kilograms in two to three months when visitors will able to see them, she said.
Lion Park houses 27 types of cats from 13 species, including lions, Siberia tigers, pumas, black leopards, Lynxs and Bengali tigers.
