Istanbul, Köln universities offer program

Istanbul’s Kemerburgaz University and Germany’s University of Köln (Cologne) have joined forces to train law students in both languages, offering them a double diploma.Turkey and Germany have a long-term cooperation in the field of higher education, said Eberhard Pohl, Germany’s ambassador to Ankara, during a ceremony in Istanbul on May 29.
“Continuing this tradition and history, providing the exchange of scientists and students is one of our major tasks,” he said. Turkey’s EU Minister Egemen Bağış, said at the ceremony that students from both countries learning each other’s law systems would contribute much to the ties between Germany and Turkey. Germany has become the country that was carrying the economic load for Europe, he said. “Hang on Germany,” he said “Turkey is coming to share your load,” he added.
