Istanbul court orders release of former police chief Hüseyin Çapkın
ISTANBUL
An Istanbul court on Dec. 19 ordered the release of former police chief Hüseyin Çapkın arrested over links to the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).
The court ordered Çapkın’s house arrest and release while former Istanbul Governor Hüseyin Avni Mutlu is still under arrest.
Along with Çapkın, three other suspects were also released in the same hearing in which 15 suspects were tried at the 30th Istanbul Heavy Penal Court.
While the court head declared to have voted against the ruling for Çapkın’s house arrest, Mutlu’s release request was denied.
