Türkiye produced 23.1 million barrels of oil and more than 1.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the first half of 2026, with the Gabar and Sakarya fields accounting for most of the output, the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry said.
State-run Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) produced 21.8 million barrels of oil during the period.
The Gabar field accounted for 60 percent of the country’s total production.
Natural gas output reached 1.641 billion cubic meters, of which TPAO produced 1.608 billion cubic meters.
Private companies supplied the remaining 33 million cubic meters, while the Sakarya Gas Field in the Black Sea accounted for 92 percent of the total.
“We are increasing our oil production through new wells at Gabar, while this year we will double our natural gas production in the Black Sea,” Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said.
“Our domestic oil and natural gas production will continue to rise.”
Bayraktar said Türkiye was also expanding its exploration and production activities abroad. The country is drilling in Somalia, has secured licenses for two blocks in Libya — one offshore and one onshore — and has agreed to take stakes in five fields in Kirkuk, Iraq, estimated to hold 3 billion barrels of oil.
