Fourth mayor dies in ‘cursed chair’ in Turkey’s west
AYDIN – Doğan News AgencyIt might soon become the chair no one wants: the past four mayors of a small town near the Aegean Sea have all passed away after assuming the post.
Cevdet Şentürk, 66, is the latest person to die as mayor in the town of Acarlar in Aydın’s İncirliova district following three predecessors.
Şentürk, a member of the İncirliova Council from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), passed away due to cancer on June 7.
Previous mayors Yunus Şentürk, Adnan Yıldız and Cafer Yıldırım also died while in the position.
Şentürk’s funeral will be held on June 8 at the neigborhood cemetery following funeral prayers at the Acarlar Central Mosque.
