Foreign tourists spend over $6 billion on fashion in 2025

Türkiye’s tourism industry reached historic highs last year, with foreign visitors spending more than $6.1 billion on clothing and footwear alone, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

This marks the first time that fashion-related expenditures surpassed the $6 billion threshold, up from $3.8 billion in 2021.

Over the past five years, total revenue from clothing and footwear purchases by tourists has amounted to $27.7 billion, underscoring the sector’s growing importance in the country’s tourism economy.

Alongside fashion, souvenirs emerged as another major driver of spending. Tourists spent a record $2.28 billion on gifts and keepsakes, surpassing the previous year’s $2.15 billion.

This represents the highest souvenir revenue since annual data collection began in 2012.

Over the past five years, souvenir sales have generated nearly $10 billion, with pandemic-era declines in 2021 giving way to a strong rebound, surpassing the $2 billion mark in subsequent years. Between 2021 and 2025, total souvenir revenue reached nearly $9.9 billion.
