AA photoOne worker was killed and five were left suffering from smoke inhalation following a fire at the Orhanlı Industrial Zone in Istanbul’s Tuzla district on Aug 29.
The body of the unidentified worker was discovered yesterday after fire crews had finally doused the blaze.
The fire started in the logistic support center, administration and warehouse part of a food company at around 7 p.m. on Aug 29.
Firefighters responded to the blaze with 70 vehicles and a 220-person team. Three workers and two firefighters were sent to hospital due to smoke inhalation.
Workers at the plant attempted to douse the flames immediately after the fire was ignited, but a series of explosions quickly fanned the flames, leading to the dispatch of fire teams from around Istanbul to tackle the blaze.
The fire was caused by an electrical issue, according to an official.
