EXPO 2020 execs resign from posts

Members of the executive committee created to oversee the western province of İzmir’s candidacy for the EXPO 2020 resigned yesterday.

Members Mahmut Özgener, Ender Yorgancılar and Işınsu Kestelli said in a written statement that they resigned from their posts due to differences of opinion. The committee was created by the Governership of İzmir.

The statement said they had quit due to differences in sense of work with the governor of İzmir.

They had been working toward institutionalization regarding conducting the candidacy process and establishing a system, which would help the executive committee perform its duties ideally, members said.
