Montenegrin coach Bogdan Tanjevic said yesterday he wants to remain at the helm of the Turkish national men’s basketball team if his health remains good.

Tanjevic, who is reportedly undergoing treatment for colon cancer, completed his second term with the national team by leading Turkey to next year’s European championships.

Turkish Basketball Federation (said Tanjevic would return to his position only for the qualifiers.

“Nothing has been discussed yet, but we have time,” Tanjevic told Anatolia news agency. “It is their decision to make and I have to stand by their policy. If my health is fine and I have the energy, I would like to continue as head coach.”

Tanjevic led Turkey to a silver medal finish at the 2010 World Basketball Championships and resigned from the post after this achievement. He was appointed for a second term earlier this year.
