Clashes erupt with PKK militants in Turkey’s southeast

An armed clash erupted between security forces and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants on early June 1 in the İdil district of the southeastern province of Şırnak.Clashes erupted in the morning hours when a group of PKK militants tried to infiltrate into the district.
According to initial reports, two security personnel were wounded while a number of PKK militants were killed.
The district was previously the site of a curfew.
