A
12-year-old elementary school student has used pepper spray in a
classroom in the Central Anatolian province of Kırıkkale, injuring eight
classmates.
The child, unidentified for legal reasons, was taken to the Children's Bureau by the police.
"I found it in a bin and I was trying to make a joke to my friends," the child said in a statement.
Eight children were transported to a local hospital for treatment after the incident.
The Kırıkkale police force has launched an investigation into claims that pepper spray is being sold in local markets.
