Bus crash kills seven in Turkeys west

Seven people, including a child, were killed when a passenger bus skidded off the road and into a wooded area in the western province of Kütahya earlier today.
 
The accident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. when the driver of the passenger bus traveling from Istanbul to the Mediterranean province of Antalya allegedly fell asleep at the wheel. 
 
Motorists who witnessed the accident stopped to help crash victims exit the badly damaged bus. 
 
Bus driver Faruk Demiralp and six passengers, including the child, who were sitting in the front seats died at the scene of the accident or at the hospitals to which they were transported. Thirty-eight other passengers who were wounded were taken to hospitals around Kütahya. 


Several of the injured are in critical condition, reports said.
