‘40 militants neutralized’ in past week across Turkey: Ministry
ANKARA – Anadolu Agency
A total of 40 outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants were “neutralized” during counterterrorism operations across Turkey in the past week, the Interior Ministry said on July 9.
Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized” in their statements to imply the militants in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.
Security forces carried out 985 counterterrorism raids across Turkey from July 2-9, added the Interior Ministry.
Clashes between the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU - and the Turkish state restarted after peace talks collapsed in 2015.
