AA photoTwenty five Pakistani-origin illegal immigrants were caught in the Aegean province of Aydın on Aug. 4 inside a jam-packed minibus draped with a Turkish flag, which recently has become a symbol to show solidarity against the failed coup attempt of July 15.
Police teams stopped a suspicious minibus with a Turkish flag on its front panel during a road check at the entrance of the İzmir highway.
The driver of the minibus, identified as M.S., said the 17-seat minibus belonged to another person, claiming he was told to carry the passengers from Istanbul to Bodrum.
M.S. also said that he did not know whether they were illegal immigrants.
Police started proceedings into the incident.
Meanwhile, the illegal immigrants were due to be transferred to the Aydın provincial immigration authority directorate after their proceedings.
After the failed coup attempt of July 15, drivers across the country have begun to adorn their vehicles with Turkish flags in a move to show their solidarity against the failed coup attempt.
