15 high-level policeman dismissed from post
Toygun Atilla - HürriyetFifteen police officers, including the Security General Directorate’s Intelligence department head Ömer Altıparmak, have been dismissed from their posts.
Altıparmak was a leading figure behind operations such as the Ergenekon and Balyoz (Sledgehammer) coup plot cases as well as the Kurdish Communities Union (KCK) trials.
Along with Altıparmak, two deputy heads of the police intelligence department, namely Gürsel Aktepe and Bülent Demirel, as well as 12 department chiefs, including Erol Demirhan, Hasan Çobanoğlu, Ali Özdoğan, İbrahim Tutka, Aydın Patan and İsmail Erol, were removed from their posts at the intelligence office and sent to police schools.
One possible scenario about the shifts is that the dismissals are seen as a response to the attempt to prosecute National Intelligence Organization (MİT) Undersecretary Hakan Fidan.
