10 PKK militants killed in aerial operation in Turkey’s east

10 PKK militants killed in aerial operation in Turkey’s east Ten 10 militants from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) were killed in an aerial operation conducted in the Kutudere region of the eastern province of Tunceli on Oct. 16.    

Kutudere was the scene of fierce clashes between the PKK militants and the security forces, according to a statement from the Tunceli Governor’s Office, which said the jets that participated in the airstrikes returned to their bases safely after the operation.

Separately, a drone belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) killed two PKK militants in northern Iraq, while security forces seized a cache of weapons in southeast Turkey, a military source said on Oct. 16.      

The militants were killed in the Zap region of Iraq on Oct. 15, the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.      

Meanwhile, soldiers from the 2nd Border Brigade seized a machine gun tripod and two Kalashnikov assault rifles during a search in the Çukurca district of the southeastern Hakkari province.
