Boston’s Turkish festival the 18th Boston Turkish Festival, the Colors of Anatolia, has started in Boston, and will continue until Dec. 15.

As part of the festival, which was first held in 1996, exclusive Turkish film and documentary programs and also Turkish cuisine will be presented. The festival lasts more than a month and it is one of the largest of its kind in the U.S. The festival theme, “Colors of Anatolia,” reflects the diversity and richness of Turkish culture, ranging from art exhibits, workshops, gastronomic presentations and concerts to Turkish cinema. The festival program also includes screenings of the Boston Turkish Festival International Documentary.

Festival director Erkut Gömülü said they were very happy and satisfied with the interest shown in the festival so far. The event is sponsored by the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry, the Turkish Cultural Foundation and Turkish Airlines. Academic Talat Halman will be at the festival to give a seminar, where he will be speaking about “Turkish arts through the ages.”
