Turkey’s General Mobile introduces new phone at Barcelona event

Turkey’s General Mobile introduces new phone at Barcelona event Turkey’s General Mobile introduced its latest smartphone “GM 5 Plus” at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Feb. 23, the company said in a written statement. 

According to the company, the GM 5 Plus will include a 13-megapixel front camera equipped with a flash. It will also include “superfast Internet with CAT-7.”      
 
“Google is pleased to collaborate once again with General Mobile on Android One, a program that aims to bring high-quality smartphones with a Google experience, the latest features of Android, and regular software updates to a broad audience,” said Anne Laurenson, director of Android partnerships for southern Europe, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the Middle East at Google.        

General Mobile Chairman Sebahattin Yaman said the GM 5 Plus is the second product resulting from cooperation with Google through the Android One program.        

“As the first product of our collaboration within the Android One program, General Mobile 4G has achieved phenomenal success as well as ranking among the most preferred smartphones in 15 countries in 2015. The second smartphone of Android One program, General Mobile ‘GM 5 Plus,’ [aims to reach] beyond these 15 countries this year. We aim to achieve success worldwide,” Yaman said.         

The new phone’s 3100mAh battery can be charged up to 60 percent in only 30 minutes with the Quick Charge 3.0 support developed by Qualcomm, the company also stated.
