Turkey’s disaster agency has transferred humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip through an air corridor, a written statement from the Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) said on Aug. 21Turkey has sent 10,000 food packages, medical supplies worth $1.5 million, fuel worth $1.7 million, and blankets to the Gaza Strip through the air corridor, said the statement, adding that 23 Palestinians wounded in Gaza were airlifted by a Turkish plane for treatment in Istanbul late on Aug. 20. Twenty-five injured Palestinians and 15 companions were earlier transferred to Turkey.
Turkey had planned to bring over around 200 Palestinians for treatment, but has so far only been able to bring over 60 due to “formalities,” according to Turkish officials.
