PKK militants burn construction vehicles as workers go missing

Suspected members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party have burned operating vehicles that were used for building a road near a gendarmerie station in Tunceli, Doğan news agency reported today, adding that the vehicle operators were still missing.The PKK is assumed to have played a role in the incident although no confirmation has yet been made. The vehicles were found burning near a cemetery outside the center of the eastern province.
It is still unknown how many workers were at the site, Tunceli’s governor said, adding that their current location – or whether they had been kidnapped – was also unclear.
Security forces are conducting a widespread search in the area.
