New chair appointed to Turkey’s foreign economic relations board

ANKARA/ISTANBUL
New chair appointed to Turkey’s foreign economic relations board Nail Olpak was appointed as the new chair of Turkey’s Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) on Sept. 22, after Ömer Cihad Vardan resigned from the post due to personal reasons.

Olpak is the former president of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD) and he previously worked at various positions in the DEİK, including the vice chairmanship.

In a statement, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci underlined a “restructuring process” ongoing in the DEIK since 2014, when it came under the control and surveillance of the Economy Ministry.

Thanking Vardan for his work over the past three years as DEİK chair, Zeybekci wishes him success in all roles he undertakes from now on.

He also voiced his belief that Olpak, “who has undertaken key tasks in many NGOs and organizations, would make great contributions to the DEİK.”
