Mobile firm eyes Vivacom

Turkey’s largest telecom company, Turkcell, is interested in acquiring Bulgaria’s second largest telecom company, Vivacom, according to daily Milliyet.

Turkcell Assisant General Manager Koray Öztürkler told Reuters that Turkcell was interested in the Bulgarian company, but that the executive board had not yet made a concrete decision.
“At Turkcell we are looking at all the countries in the region, Bulgaria being just one,” Öztürkler told Reuters.

Another possible local contender for Vivacom could be Turk Telekom, according to NTVmsnbc. According to the Austrian press, Telecom Austria is also interested in purchasing the company.
