Map of Needs: Bringing together those in need and those who would like to respond to those needs The Map of Needs became the second “Changemaker” of the eighth season of the Sabanci Foundation Turkey’s Changemakers Program.

Map of Needs was formed in 2015 by a group of friends to mainstream solidarity and collective work, with the vision: “If everyone starts from their own neighborhood, we can make our cities more livable.”

Map of Needs brings together those who are in need and those who would like to respond to those needs. The system operates through a map on the internet. The needs are entered and the location is pinned on the map. The supports are also entered and pinned on the map. Both of these transactions are active after being verified by a Map of Needs team.

No requirements are asked to register to the Map of Needs, neither to add a need or support. All you need is to be older than 18 years.

Some 26,778 members have registered to the Map of Needs during the first year. All kinds of needs are registered, except money. Be it an eraser, a computer, a telescope, or a library; a total of 8,749 needs and supports have been registered during the first year from all around Turkey.

Map of Needs aimed to evoke the feeling of solidarity within the society, bringing together those in need and those who would like to respond to those needs. It reached thousands of people in one year, while created a new model of solidarity. Map of Needs has made a big difference in the lives of those in need and those who want to support them.
