IKSV chooses young soloist

The Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) has renewed its search for a talented young musician with the “Istanbul Music Festival seeks its young soloist” contest. While last year the competition focused on violinists, this year a cellist will be selected.

The winners will be selected in March in Istanbul. The application conditions are available at muzik.iksv.org. A young cellist will be chosen to play with the Istanbul University State Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra, which will be conducted by Ramiz Malik Aslanov.

The application period is set to end in February 2013. The selection committee consists of Münif Akalın, Ramiz Malik Aslanov, Cihat Aşkın, Melih Kara, Dilbağ Tokay and Yeşim Oymak.

The first winner of the competition, Emre Engin, is currently studying at London Royal Orchestra College in the U.K. Engin celebrated his victory with a performance on the Süreyya Opera stage with Ramiz Malik Aslanov.
