At least 39 people were killed when two high-speed trains collided near Urda in Spain’s Toledo province on Oct. 28, broadcaster Antena 3 reported, citing regional emergency services.
Rail infrastructure manager Adif said services on the Madrid-Andalusia high-speed line had been suspended following a rear-end collision.
The crash involved a Renfe AVE train and an Iryo service. Two rear carriages of the Iryo train derailed, Renfe said.
Emergency crews, including medical helicopters and firefighters, were sent to the scene. Several people were also reported injured. The cause of the collision was not immediately clear.
