(VIDEO) Footage shows assailant entering Parliament before attacking CHP leader
ANKARAFootage from the Turkish Parliament’s security cameras has been revealed, showing Orhan Övet, who accosted the Republican Peoples’ Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu on April 8, entering the building step by step.
Övet entered Parliament from its Dikmen gate at 10:31 a.m., according to the footage. He is seen while checking something, thought to be notepaper, after leaving the visitor’s entrance building.
The attacker entered Door 3, which leads to the room where the CHP meeting was set to be held. After passing another security point, he was seen talking to a police officer for some time.
Övet delivered several kicks and punched Kılıçdaroğlu after entering Parliament as a visitor before the CHP leader’s party group meeting.
