Türkiye’s central government budget posted a deficit of 378.1 billion Turkish Liras ($7.9 billion) in July, compared with a deficit of 23.9 billion liras in the same month a year earlier.
According to data from the Treasury and Finance Ministry on Aug. 17, budget revenues increased 28.8 percent year-on-year to 1.4 trillion liras in July, while budget expenditures rose 59.8 percent to 1.79 trillion liras.
The budget, which recorded a primary surplus of 111 billion liras in July last year, posted a primary deficit of 51.3 billion liras in July 2026.
In the January-July period, central government expenditures rose 36.6 percent year-on-year to 10.52 trillion liras, while revenues increased 37.4 percent to 9.2 trillion liras.
The budget deficit widened 31.5 percent year-on-year to 1.32 trillion liras during the first seven months of the year.
Meanwhile, the primary surplus nearly doubled, rising 94.5 percent year-on-year to 470 billion liras in the January-July period.
