Turkey 38th on FIFA list
ISTANBUL - Hürriyet Daily NewsTurkey’s dipping form caused the national football team slip to the 38th spot in the latest FIFA rankings announced yesterday.
Turkey, who suffered back-to-back defeats against Romania and Hungary in last month’s 2014 World Cup qualifying games, dropped by two spots to the 38th spot, which is Turkey’s lowest since 2009.
World and European champion Spain remains top, ahead of Germany. Argentina overhauled Portugal to the third spot. The Portuguese slip back into fourth, ahead of Italy, whose recent run of form has lifted the team three places to fifth.
England slip back a further place from last month into sixth with the Netherlands also dropping a place to seventh.
Colombia is eighth while Russia and Croatia, who both snuck into the top 10 at the expense of Uruguay and Greece, rounded out the top 10.
