Mercan Dede Istanbul Quartet taking the Babylon stage

Babylon is hosting renowned Turkish DJ and musician Mercan Dede (Arkin Allen) with his new project titled Mercan Dede Istanbul Quartet tonight. The concert starts at 9:30 p.m. and tickets are available at Babylon’s ticket booth. Mercan Dede is collaborating with three young but accomplished musicians for his acoustic-based project. The project targets a fusion of east and west, the traditional and the modern, not only through sounds but also by making use of different forms of visual arts. The band’s stage repertoire is in two parts. First part titled “Sunrise” offers meditative and acoustic sounds, while the second part titled “Sunset” relies more heavily on an energetic set list merging electronic and acoustic sounds.
