Fair unveils 100 new bike models

Some 100 new motorcycle and bicycle models were launched at the 2012 Euroasia Moto Bike Expo, held March 1 to 4, according to a press release from the organizer, Dünya Fuar.

A total of 78,678 people visited the Istanbul Fair Center, the exhibition venue in Istanbul’s Yeşilköy district in the first three days despite cold and snowy weather, the firm said. Tours were organized to bring motorcycle and bicycle lovers from other provinces to the fair.

The volume of Turkey’s motorcycle market will hit 250,000 this year, said Ali Erokan Karakoç, the head of the Motorcycle Industry Association, according to daily Hürriyet. Some 120,000 of the volume is reached through orders placed during the fair, he said, demonstrating the importance of the exhibition for sellers.
The sales volume created during the exhibition is estimated to hit $360 million, he added.

Meanwhile Bayram Akgül, the head of the Motorcycle Industrialists Association, said domestic motorcycle manufacturing, carried out by a total of 10 firms, had a volume of 170,000 units per year.
