E-trade giant Amazon is planning to acquire minority shares in Turkey’s local gift website Çiçeksepeti.com.

“We are very pleased to be a part of ÇiçekSepeti’s growth strategy,” said Amazon’s European Retail Vice President Greg Greeley. Greeley said Amazon was focused on making ÇiçekSepeti into an affordable and comfortable online option for customers who want to send flowers and gifts.

ÇiçekSepeti introduced the ÇiçekSepeti Gourmet brand over the past summer to provide customers with candy, chocolate and cakes. ÇiçekSepeti also added jewelry sales to its portfolio very recently, according to ntvmsnbc.

ÇiçekSepeti was established in 2006 and works with 150 partner florists all over Turkey. The company employs 160 people.
