Turkcell general assembly to be held in March

ISTANBUL
Turkey’s biggest mobile operator Turkcell’s general assembly, covering the past five years, will be held on March 26, with 48 agenda items, the company announced via written statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) late Feb. 10.

“Turkcell’s Board of Directors has decided to convene the Annual General Assembly Meeting pertaining to the years of 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 on March 26 to discuss the agenda,” said the statement. The assembly is set to discuss and approve the company’s dividend policy as well.

A row between Turkey’s Çukurova, Russia’s Altimo and Nordic telecoms giant Telia Sonera has hampered Turkcell’s development for years, as it has been unable to pay dividends.

The company’s CEO Süreyya Ciliv’s term ended as of Jan. 31 after his resignation.

Turkcell is the only company in Turkey that is listed both on Borsa Istanbul and NYSE.
