Police raid major bus company
ISTANBUL - Doğan News AgencyPolice have detained 38 people in Istanbul during a raid on Metro Holding yesterday.
Those detained include the deputy mayor of an Istanbul district and a housing official, along with the brother of Galip Öztürk, Metro’s chairman, who is already in jail.
Öztürk was detained with eight others and arrested nearly one month ago on extortion charges. The police also searched Metro’s headquarters in the Kavacık district of Istanbul’s Anatolian side.
Police sources said the number of people detained in the case may increase. The detained were taken to the Istanbul police headquarters, sources said.
