Galatasaray Vice Chairman Adnan Öztürk has resigned from the Galatasaray A.Ş. board. 

Öztürk and Adnan Nas stepped down from Galatasaray A.Ş., the marketing company which holds the rights to market merchandise bearing the name of the football team, vacating their positions for journalist Mehmet Ali Birand and businessman Ümit Özdemir. 

“My resignation from Galatasaray A.Ş. in no way means I am stepping down as vice chairman,” Öztürk said in a statement. 

According to a Doğan News Agency report, the decision was in line with the new Turkish Commercial Code, which require companies linked to football teams to have to include two board members independent from the club board.
